Going underground: Jessica Alba plays it cool in edgy outfit as she joins New York commuters on subway

Riders on the 6 train in Manhattan's Soho got a surprise today when actress Jessica Alba, rumoured to be worth $40 million, boarded their subway carriage.
Yellow cabs are notoriously hard to find after lunchtime in the city so the Fantastic Four star, who has been in town for New York Fashion Week, must have decided to head underground and catch a train instead.
Wearing an on-trend ensemble of a black and white pyjama style blouse, leopard print trousers and tassled smoking shoes, the fashion conscious 31-year-old was accompanied by a friend.

Looking rather hot and impatient - underground platform temperatures in New York City average 100 degrees in the summer months - the mother-of-two sipped on an iced coffee as she waited for the air-conditioned subway train to pull into the station.
IT was a change of pace for the Good Luck Chuck star who has been ferried around in chauffeur driven limousines to front row seats at the Ralph Lauren and Narciso Rodriguez fashion shows.
The actress-turned- entrepreneur was also honoured by Self Magazine at their Women Doing Good award ceremony for her work with the eco-concious Honest Company.

At the star-studded ceremony she spoke about life with her husband, Cash, and their two daughters, Honor and Haven saying: 'Every single day, I mean every moment, that I get to love them and cuddle them and be with them.
'To be able to watch them grow, I learn so much from them and just being a mom.'
Jessica also congratulated the other winners, who included Channing Tatum's wife Jenna Dewan, and encouraged other to follow their footsteps with the line: 'Without all of us doing a little bit of something, nothing's going to change.'

Jessica launched her monthly eco-friendly delivery service The Honest Company specialising in natural and eco-friendly products for baby and the home, last year.
'I’m blessed with a career I love. I can’t think of a better way to spend my work life than on a movie set.'
'But with people following me when I go out and everyone wanting me to endorse things, I thought I can either go into a cave and hide or use my access to influence something I’m passionate about,' Jessica has said of the venture.
