The fan site Drowned Madonna reports that the singer will shoot a music
video for her next single, ‘Turn Up the Radio,’ this weekend in Rome. The clip
will reportedly be shot by director Tom Munro.
Munro has worked with Madonna on several photo shoots and
directed her video for ‘Give It 2 Me,’ a single from 2008′s ‘Hard Candy’ album.
The site says that Madge is trying to work out a product placement deal, in
much the same way Smirnoff vodka was featured in the ‘Give Me All Your Luvin” clip.
Madonna wrote the song with dance producer Martin Solveig, who told
MTV she was open to his ideas when recording. “We were working with no limits,”
he said. “I think the only thing that she said when we started was, ‘I just
want people to be able to dance to my music and connect easily with my music,’
and also probably to take some risks at some point. Other than this, it was
open to any kind of experimentation.”
A bright pop song, ‘Turn Up the Radio’ is the third single
from ‘MDNA’ after ‘Give Me All Your Luvin” and ‘Girl Gone Wild.’ The European
leg of the MDNA Tour continues next week with shows in Italy and Spain.
Money can’t buy love, but it sure comes in handy in
demonstrating it. Case in point: Kim Kardashian‘s sweet
birthday gift for Kanye West.
What did the reality starlet bestow upon her boo?
None other than a freakin’ Lambo! Instead of the
Murcielago, which Yeezy already owns (it supposedly inspired his ‘Mercy’ single
with G.O.O.D. Music), K.K. plunked down a cool $750,000 for a black, two-door
Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. That’s amore, kids!
We wouldn’t expect anything less from the fashion-conscious
couple. West is apparently treating K-Dash to free styling
services (as if she needed them — but it’s not like he needs another ride,
either).
Unfortunately, Kim wasn’t able to gift Ye with the wheels
directly, though, since he’s still on the European leg of his Watch the Throne
tour with Jay-Z. However, she did find a way to surprise him (that is, unless
he read TMZ already). Kimmy took a video of the whip and will
personally screen it for West at his tour stop in Ireland. Kute!
At the Born This Way Ball tour date in New Zealand, Lady Gaga delivered a lengthy
monologue while seated on her motorcycle piano before launching into her “love
yourself” anthem ‘Hair.’ The speech felt like an indirect response to Madonna‘s sorta shady mashup
of ‘Express Yourself’ with ‘Born This Way’ and ‘She’s Not Me.’
Gaga stated, “There is a level of resilience within this
room, something that you’ve done to the universe. Everyone tried, everyone
tried all year and everyone is still trying, but you could never invalidate the
power of ‘Born This Way,’” she added. “It’s about respect. It’s about loving
who you are.”
It’s not overt, but it certainly feels like the Mother
Monster’s way of commenting, without getting too nasty or going the
mud-slinging route. It was classy, too. Rather than make a rude comment, she
elevates the power of ‘Born This Way’ as a concept.
Gaga continued, “Anything shallow or insubstantial or
anything that is vain or ego-driven means nothing to me. All that matters to me
is seeing you f—ing smile. I love you with all my heart,” she gushed. “I wanted
you to know how f—ing powerful you are. You are powerful. Nothing can stop
you.”
She also went on about her role in the cultural and musical
world, which also felt like a comment on Madonna’s treatment of her and about
their places in the pop music food chain. “I wasn’t here to make pop music
better,” Gaga exclaimed. “I was put here to ruin it, burst its bubble, turn it
inside out, explode it and vomit it all over the world.” Spoken like only Gaga
could.
Gaga finished, “With this last record, I thought, ‘Now that
I have all this fame and fortune, let me do something that means something.’ I
wrote this song. This is for you. Anyone who doesn’t fit in or feels they are
trying to be destroyed by the greatest forces on earth. Nothing can destroy
you. You are free as your hair.”
Is Madonna one of the greatest forces on earth, trying to
destroy Gaga, the little monsters and the very notion of ‘Born This Way?’ It’s
not like we’re making a leap here. (And we just had an image of
Madonna-as-Godzilla, trying to stomp all over the castle of the Born This Way
Ball tour
stage.)
When you look at Madonna’s trying-too-hard mashup and
Gaga’s words here, Madge looks silly, cheesy and catty, whereas Gaga looks like
a pro and a true crusader, using pop music as a tool and instrument of change.
Robin
Thicke is sitting in apartment yearning for the gorgeous model next door in
his steamy video for ‘All Tied Up.’ The lovely ballad is from the singer’s
latest LP ‘Love After War,’ which is in stores now.
In the black-and-white clip, which was directed by Ryan Pallotta,
Thicke dreams of serenading his lovely neighbor with his feathery falsetto.
Eventually, his fantasies come true as we see the couple get frisky in the
bathroom, in the living room and on the outside terrace. There’s also a bonus
for the ladies — the blue-eyed loverboy is shirtless and reveals his six-pack
abs.
‘All Tied Up’ is the perfect song to play on those warm
romantic nights when you are with your significant other. And now that Robin
Thicke is getting his shine
on ABC’s ‘Duets,’ let’s hope
we hear more soulful songs from this talented crooner.
It was a good week for the One Direction boys, even
though it was revealed that Liam Payne broke
his toe, thanks to an errant Mac Book Pro landing on his foot. Ouchies!
Even so, the boys’ ‘Up All Night: The Live Tour’ DVD was the No. 1 music DVD in
America, as well as 24 other countries. That’s right. The 1D boys scored No. 1
positioning in 25 countries. Congrats!
In a press release touting the good news, Niall Horan
stated,”We’re blown away by the success of the DVD all around the world and
want to thank everyone who has gone out and bought it, the support means so
much to us. It was lots of fun filming the concert for the DVD, so we’re
chuffed all the fans love it so much.”
“Chuffed,” in case you aren’t really up on current British
slang, means “pleased” or “happy.”
The DVD sold more copies than the top-selling album in the
U.S. last week, and it sold twice the amount of copies that the No. 1 album
shifted in Canada, and is the second best-selling DVD of 2012 in that country.
The DVD is also numero uno in the band’s native U.K.
The 1D DVD is also No.1 in Argentina, Australia, Belgium,
Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mexico,
Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore,
Spain, Sweden and Turkey.
Can you say “World domination?”
Now take care of that bum toe, Liam!
