It was time to celebrate so I purchased some Flying lanterns

Chinese Floating Lanterns have been around for centuries in many Asian cultures. These paper lanterns are illuminated with light and float nicely in the air. Chinese lanterns are made from oiled rice paper and cover a frame constructed of bamboo. A small wax candle is placed inside these flying Lanterns and when they are lit the heated air inside the lantern causes the density to lower and the lantern to float freely in the sky. Sky lanterns only stay in the air for as long as the candle is lit.

Once the candle burns out the lantern will float back down to the ground. The tradition in Ancient China was that these lanterns were used during war but as time went on they became popular to young children and were seen more and more at festivities and carnivals. The people who live in Northern Thai are especially fond of the sky lanterns . They use them during a festival known as Yi Peng which is held during a full moon on the second month of a Lanna(Northern Thai) Calender. During this festival flying lanterns can be seen all over Northern Thai as well as decorated houses and gardens.

Many Thais believe the flying lanterns are a symbol of their problems and worries floating away. The beauty with these lanterns are endless and phenomenal. Paper lanterns become more spectacular to look at and watch when they take on different shapes and forms. They can be made into any shape and pattern possible.
