He's back! Michael J Fox prepares to make his TV comeback... 12 years after ill health forced him to retire

It's been 12 years since he retired from Spin City due to ill health.
So Michael J Fox is understandably keen to get back to work.
The actor was spotted walking to a New York studio on Thursday to tape a segment on Late Night with David Letterman.

Wearing black jeans, a pin-striped lavender shirt and navy dress jacket, Michael was in top form and ready to talk about his latest project.
The 51-year-old actor with a heart of gold is planning a return to NBC on a new show, and he's dragging his own experiences into the storyline.
Having finally managed to get his Parkinson's Disease under control with new medication, he will play a character who suffers from the disease.

The former Family Ties star was himself diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1991, revealing it publicly eight years later.
Michael is set to play a busy husband and father of three who juggles family, career and his health  in the New York-based show.
'I wake up every day and I feel good and if I don’t go forward with something like this, it’s another day wasted when I should be doing what I’m doing,' Michael recently told the Associated Press.
'I’m really excited about that. It’s a great idea and it’s a great group of people I’m working with and NBC has been really supportive of the idea... and obviously shown that they’re willing to take a chance on us.

'I was just feeling better and things are working for me medication-wise, and I just thought, "Why don’t I take this opportunity to do it?" 
Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment, talked about Michael's new show this week at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.
'It's an incredible show. Michael came in and pitched us the show and it was basically completely inspired by his life as a husband and father and family man who's grappling with his disease,' Salke said of the sitcom, which is set to premiere in fall of 2013.
Describing the pilot, Salke said it starts with Michael's character 'coming back into the seat at the news with a special interest story and a lot of fun guest casting and the family rallying around him. He approaches his life and his work with a lot of irreverence and he laughs at himself.'

The cause: Michael attended the Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson's event in New York on November 10, with his wife Tracy Pollan and three of his four children, Aquinnah, Sam and Schuyler
